Matthijs Wouda is part of the research group led by Dr Sonja de Groot that received a 2020 SCI Collaboration Grant to attend ISCoS2020:Virtual.
Matthijs is a physiotherapist, with a Master of Science in Human Movement Sciences (VU University Amsterdam, 2004). He has been the head of the Clinical Physiology Laboratory at Sunnaas Rehabilitation Hospital since 2006. During this time, he has been publishing several peer-reviewed papers in the field of SCI, mainly with the focus on exercise physiology and activity monitoring. In 2018 he attained his PhD at the faculty of medicine at Oslo University (Norway) with his work on “High intensity aerobic exercise in ambulatory persons with an incomplete SCI”. His special interests are exercise, accelerometry and the use of robotics in the rehabilitation of persons with neurological disorders.
