Nadine is working on the eWALK2 trial, a multicentre international randomised controlled trial investigating the effectiveness of spinal stimulation combined with locomotor training in people with SCI. Connections made at ISCoS will enhance her current and future research.

Nadine shares her experiences from the conference.

I am very grateful for receiving the SRI Research Collaboration Grant to attend this year’s ISCoS Conference in Sweden. For me, this was a great opportunity to share my work, learn from specialists and connect with researchers and clinicians from all around the globe. If it weren’t for this grant, I would not have been able to attend the conference due to limited funding and recourses.

It was such a pleasure to meet my fellow SRI grant recipients, past grant recipients and the lovely SRI team not only at the SRI Breakfast, but also at other social events, dinners and for casual conversations. The ISCoS conference was my first conference overseas, and it was very comforting to have some familiar faces! Receiving the SRI grant and the support from the SRI team gave me a lot of confidence to present my work and to approach people at the conference.

As a physio working in research, for me the conference had a great mix of research and clinical input. I valued the pre-conference day for physios and enjoyed the smaller group and the clinically based talks and workshops. It was an interesting setting to discuss specific profession-based questions and I enjoyed having my knowledge of the research side of it all as well as the hands-on physiotherapy when contributing to conversations.

For me personally, the conference was a great opportunity to connect with researchers and clinicians across Europe, as I am soon moving from Australia back to Austria. The support from this grant directly helped me to share my work to potential future colleagues, introduce myself to clinicians and researchers in Europe and gather information about what job opportunities there might be for me. The conference had such great impact on my professional path ahead.

Thank you very much for the support!
