SCI Research Collaboration Grants to be offered again in 2026 – opening 30 April!

The Spinal Research Institute (SRI) is pleased to announce that the SCI Research Collaboration Grants will be offered again in 2026, marking the 11th year of the program. Over this time, the SRI has supported 117 early career researchers and clinicians from 28 countries to attend the International Spinal Cord Society’s Annual Scientific Meeting.

The SCI Research Collaboration Grants provide emerging leaders with the opportunity to present their work on a global stage, strengthen international collaborations, and accelerate their research and career development.

Since its inception in 2016, the SCI Research Collaboration Grant program has evolved, gaining traction worldwide, and resulting in an increasing number of applications annually. The quality of applications has also improved over time, enabling us to award grants to only the most promising early career researchers and clinicians around the world.

As a result of this evolution and growth, this year we have introduced some changes to the grants. Most significantly, applicants must now be the presenting author of an accepted abstract at the 65th International Spinal Cord Society (ISCoS) Annual Scientific Meeting to be held 7–10 October 2026 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The grant opening dates are therefore slightly later this year to coincide with the announcement of abstract outcomes.

Grant applications will open from 30 April to 26 May. Please visit the SCI Research Collaboration Grants page to find out more about the updated eligibility criteria for the grants and funding inclusions.

We are delighted that the SCI Research Collaboration Grants have become such a well-regarded opportunity for early career researchers and clinicians in the spinal cord injury field. We look forward to receiving applications from individuals working in diverse areas of research and clinical practice.

The SCI Research Collaboration Grants are made possible through the generous support of the SRI Patron’s Program Future Leaders of SCI Research initiative.
