Ambassadors

Jason Ellery

In 2011 Jason Ellery was on a snowboarding trip in Alberta, Canada, when an accident changed his life forever. While Jason’s spinal cord injury was life-altering, he has since gone on to achieve further qualifications to progress his career aspirations, represent Australia in wheelchair rugby winning a World Championship, marry his gorgeous partner Nicole and become the father of two beautiful boys.

Jason is passionate about the positive improvements research collaboration can and will have on his life, and has been a proud SRI ambassador for many years, saying:

“Spinal cord injury research can dramatically improve the quality of life for me and the millions of people living with spinal cord injury across the world. That’s why I support the SRI – the focus on improving lives, here and now, is what matters.”

Jason has an unwavering ‘silver linings’ perspective on life, and in an interview conducted at the beginning of the pandemic in 2020, he talks about the positives he has drawn from lockdown and how challenging situations can help build resilience. Check out the In Conversation here.
