In March, we invited Kew Rotary to visit the SRI for an information session on SCoRH – of which they are supporters – and a tour around the sustainable garden at the Austin Health, Royal Talbot Rehabilitation Centre where our office is located.
Stephen Wells, Horticultural Therapist at Austin Health, spent time walking the group through the garden pointing out the sustainable features while also explaining the positive impact gardening can have on people who are undergoing rehabilitation.
After the tour, SRI Project Manager, Emma Peleg, delivered a SCoRH presentation to the group highlighting the importance of global collaboration in spinal cord research. To our surprise, Kew Rotary President, Carl Zammit, concluded the event by presenting A/Prof. Doug Brown with a cheque. This donation was greatly received, and we thank the Kew Rotary for their generous support.
